Frequently Asked Questions

  • I have a Master in Arts (MA) in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) which is one of multiple licenses for therapists/counselors in Washington State. LMFTs come from a Systems Theory background, seeing people within their contexts and building off of their strengths. PMH-C stands for Perinatal Mental Health Certificate. To better serve my clients I received this certificate from Postpartum Support International through education, testing, and ongoing continuing education.

  • Both words are used interchangeably. Different states have slightly different wording regarding licensing, but in Washington counseling and therapy are the same thing. What’s most important is finding someone who works with your specific challenges and a professional with whom you connect.

  • 60 minutes

  • The first few sessions are getting to know you, what you’ve been dealing with and discussion around what you want to get out of therapy.

  • Research shows that weekly sessions produce the best results. I recommend clients commit to at least three months of weekly sessions before considering reducing frequency. We will discuss what’s clinically appropriate for your care.

  • This can vary widely depending on a client’s needs. Many of my clients are typically in therapy for 6 months to a year.

  • $250. Therapy is an investment. I bring 13 years of experience to help you start feeling better quickly.

  • If you cancel under 48 hours of the time of your appointment, there is a $150 cancelation fee. It’s considered a no-show if you don’t show up by 15 minute past the start of your appointment time, during which the cancelation fee is applied. There are times life happens, if you are sick or it’s an emergency I will not charge for a cancellation.

  • I am an out of network provider. This means you pay my fee upfront. This allows us to have the most flexibility regarding your care because our work isn’t determined by a third party.

  • I can provide you with a superbill with a billing code and diagnosis to submit to your insurance company for possible out of network coverage. Every insurance provider and plan is different, so I encourage you to ask your company about your out of network benefits. It’s also a great option to use FSA or HSA accounts to pay for therapy.

  • Throughout my 13 year career, I’ve worked with a wide variety of issues and populations. I now specialize in work with individuals and families dealing with grief, infertility, pregnancy loss, menopause, medical trauma, and health issues. I work with people of all genders even though I have a special focus on people in fat bodies, queer bodies, people of color and women. I work with families when their challenges are specific to my specialities. I refer out for general couples therapy or relationship counseling. Check out the specialty pages or more! If you resonate with my practice and don’t fall under any of these categories, schedule a free consultation and we can discuss your needs.

  • We will check in regularly to determine how the process is going for you. If counseling isn’t working for you, we can discuss a different approach or a possible referral to someone who might better help you.
