Finding a therapist in Washington you can trust is HARD!
You feel overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, and tired. You’ve experienced normal changes to your mental, physical, and relational health throughout your life, but this time it’s hitting differently. Although many of these changes have been ‘normal’ it doesn’t mean they’ve always been ‘easy.’ Experiencing strong emotions, loud thoughts, and challenging physical experiences is not for the faint of heart. If you’re part of any marginalized group including being in a fat body, being queer, a person of color, a woman, or all the above make experiences in this world more challenging. As you deal with feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious and tired, you know it doesn’t just impact you, but the people you love as well. Not only do you lean on them for support, but they deal with their own emotional, psychological, and social challenges. You’d love for them to feel supported too.
As you navigate living day to day, you’ve come to see the world in a differently. You get angry when places and activities aren’t accessible to you, or when you realize your needs weren’t thought of at all. You get frustrated when people say the wrong thing or don’t know how to act. There are times it’s hard to sleep because you stress about the future. There are other times you break down in tears because you don’t know how you’re going to get through another day. Navigating mental and physical health issues impact how you relate to yourself and other people. You’d love to be better at being kind to yourself, accepting yourself, and advocating for yourself. You’d love for your family and friends to understand your reality and know how to support you.
I provide therapy to individuals and families facing grief, anxiety, and medical trauma, with special focus on acute/chronic illness, reproductive health, and life transitions. Being a Perinatal Mental Health Certified Therapist, much of my work focuses on reproductive mental health, but I work with a variety of individuals and families facing different challenges. Work with clients focuses on collaboration and the promotion of acceptance, psychological flexibility, processing grief, and increasing self-care. Healing occurs in the mind and body as one holistic system. I work with all genders; however, I have a special place in my heart for anti-oppression work with people in fat bodies, queer bodies, people of color, and femme bodies.
If you’re dealing with grief, anxiety, or trauma, you’re one call away from feeling more peaceful, resilient, and empowered. Reach out today. Learn more about my work in the FAQs below.
Frequently Asked Questions

I have a Master in Arts (MA) in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) which is one of multiple licenses for therapists/counselors in Washington State. LMFTs come from a Systems Theory background, seeing people within their contexts and building off of their strengths. PMH-C stands for Perinatal Mental Health Certificate. To better serve my clients I received this certificate from Postpartum Support International through education, testing, and ongoing continuing education.
-
Both words are used interchangeably. Different states have slightly different wording regarding licensing, but in Washington counseling and therapy are the same thing. What’s most important is finding someone who works with your specific challenges and a professional with whom you connect.

The first few sessions are getting to know you, what you’ve been dealing with and discussion around what you want to get out of therapy.
-
Research shows that weekly sessions produce the best results. I recommend clients commit to at least three months of weekly sessions before considering reducing frequency. We will discuss what’s clinically appropriate for your care.

This can vary widely depending on a client’s needs. Many of my clients are typically in therapy for 6 months to a year. I work from an episodic care model. I want you to feel better quickly and get back to your life. If you need to come back, that can happen, but I want my clients to only be in therapy as long as they need.

$250. Therapy is an investment. I bring 13 years of experience to help you start feeling better quickly.
-
If you cancel under 48 hours of the time of your appointment, there is a $150 cancelation fee. It’s considered a no-show if you don’t show up by 15 minute past the start of your appointment time, during which the cancelation fee is applied. There are times life happens, if you are sick or it’s an emergency I will not charge for a cancellation.

I am an out of network provider. This means you pay my fee upfront. This allows us to have the most flexibility regarding your care because our work isn’t determined by a third party. For more information about this, check out this blog post: Discovering Freedom: Out-of-Network Online Therapy Options in Seattle

I can provide you with a superbill with a billing code and diagnosis to submit to your insurance company for possible out of network coverage. Every insurance provider and plan is different, so I encourage you to ask your company about your out of network benefits. It’s also a great option to use FSA or HSA accounts to pay for therapy.

Throughout my 13 year career, I’ve worked with a wide variety of issues and populations. I specialize in work with individuals and families (ages 18+) dealing with grief, anxiety, and medical trauma, with special focus on infertility, pregnancy loss, menopause, and health issues. I work with people of all genders even though I have a special focus on people in fat bodies, queer bodies, people of color and women. I work with families when their challenges are specific to my specialities. I refer out for general couples therapy or relationship counseling. Check out the specialty pages or more! If you resonate with my practice and don’t fall under any of these categories, schedule a free consultation and we can discuss your needs.

We will check in regularly to determine how the process is going for you. If therapy isn’t working for you, we can discuss a different approach or a possible referral to someone who might better help you.

A common misconception is that you need to be "mentally ill" to go to therapy. That is not true. Therapy is a confidential place held to high legal and ethical standards for the safety of clients. Therapists hold a variety of roles with clients, including but not limited to, being a secure attachment figure, a coach, a teacher, and collaborator. I work with clients to meet their goals and feel better while also providing education and experience that bolsters safety and privacy.
