Transformative Online Therapy Services in Seattle
About Chelsea
You've been struggling for so long and you are ready to move forward. But, how do you find a therapist in Seattle, or Washington state that can help? The process of therapy needs to happen with someone you trust and can click with.
Hi, my name is Chelsea Kramer (she/her), and I became a licensed therapist in Seattle, WA because I saw pain all around me in a world that’s tough to live in. I’ve always been curious as to why some people build resilience in the face of suffering and other people struggle. In undergrad I designed my own major, consisting on psychology, sociology, women’s studies and theology to attempt to understand experiences from a holistic lens. I then enrolled in a Master's program in Marriage and Family Therapy and started working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds. I was drawn to the MFT perspective because it challenges the typical pathological medical view of mental health. What we term ‘mental health’ actually has to do with the entirety of who you are, your brain, your nervous system, your body, your context, culture, and relationships. I’ve always been passionate about the interaction between mental and physical health, feminism, and the way gender impacts how we experience the world.
I’ve dedicated my 13 year therapy career to helping individuals, couples, and families improve their lives in order to make social change. I have a passion for helping individuals and families be their best selves in a tough world. I am Perinatal Mental Health Certified and have advanced training on all things related to perinatal and reproductive mental health, including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, fertility challenges, family planning, miscarriage, menopause, and reproductive health challenges (cancer, endometriosis, pelvic trauma, fibroids, etc). As a Health At Every Size® Provider (HAES) I promote the celebration of all bodies. I have lived experience with illness, injury, and health challenges and deeply empathize with the challenges of both being a patient and provider within the medical system. I understand how the layers of your identify intersect to create a unique person with a one of a kind experience. Whatever hand you’ve been dealt, I will meet you where you’re at and go from there.
And, if what we do doesn't work, I'm going change it up or refer you out. My main concern is that you get the care you need and meet your therapeutic goals.
I am a proud member of the following professional organizations: Perinatal Support Washington, Resolve, Association for Reproductive Medicine, The Association for Size Diversity and Health, and The Menopause Society.
My work focuses on individuals and families dealing with anxiety, grief, and medical trauma, with a special focus on infertility, pregnancy loss, menopause, and health issues. Feel free to reach out with questions. Return to the homepage here.
Why Choose Online Therapy?
The pandemic transformed people’s outlooks on how giving and receiving care can look. Online therapy is a great way to make services more accessible for people with limited time and limited mobility. Research has shown for years that online therapy is just as effective as in person therapy. In my practice, online therapy has led to client attendance being more consistent and thus clients have better outcomes. My clients are often dealing with jobs, kids, and medical conditions that limited their time and ability to travel, making online therapy a great option. I find being able to see client’s environments can help me know them on a deeper level. While working with clients, it’s not uncommon for me to meet them in the community if they’re experiencing a significant life event, such as a hospital stay. I’m proud to offer convenient, secure, and consistent care to my clients.
